IB-PYP Parent Information Sessions
Dear Chandler Oaks ES Parents,
CORRECTION TO LAST E-NEWS: Our PTA website is www.chandleroakspta.org
IB-PYP INFORMATION SESSIONS
The district is giving close consideration to the possibility of Chandler Oaks beginning the process of seeking authorization as an International Primary Years Programme. (Like Anderson Mill and Spicewood Elementaries did several years back.) This is a campus-based decision, however, so we are seeking input from our families, first. (The journey generally takes about 3 years, starting with the "Consideration Phase".)
Some of you are familiar with the IB diploma program that is being newly implemented at Stony Point High School and has been at Westwood for many years. For some of you this may be completely new. Also, the PYP is very different from the diploma program since it involves every student in the school. With that in mind, I would like to hold some information sessions to give you a glimpse of this complex program, answer any questions you might have, and get your feedback.
Below are listed 3 information sessions. You only need to attend one, as they are all the same. I tried to pick different times and venues to meet a variety of parents' schedules. Don't worry if you can not make any of these, though. There will be other opportunities!
If you are completely new to IB programming, may I suggest that you visit the Anderson Mill and Spicewood Elementary websites and browse around. You can also go to ibo.org and click on the Primary Years Programme to get the bigger picture. Please come ready to ask questions and discuss.
SESSIONS:
May 25th, 8:00 AM, RRISD Athletic Complex Meeting Room (Coffee and pastries will be served.)
May 27th, 6:30 PM, Walsh Lecture Hall
May 28th, 11:00 AM, RRISD Athletic Complex Meeting Room (Please feel free to "brown bag" it and bring your lunch to enjoy while listening and discussing).
See you there!
